Overview
Layers of Time was commissioned to design a high-intensity underground environment for Collective Minds at Annexe Studio. The objective was to construct a spatial system that could translate raw sonic energy into a physically immersive experience.
Challenge
Underground environments demand unpredictability — but execution cannot be unpredictable. The challenge was to create a system that felt chaotic and visceral, while remaining tightly controlled at a technical level.
Approach
We designed a unified audio-visual architecture where lighting and sound operated as a single system. The spatial language was intentionally minimal and aggressive — built around structural LED bars forming a compressed, immersive geometry.
Execution
The entire environment was pre-visualized and simulated in Depence, allowing frame-accurate programming before load-in.
During the live show, Resolume was used as a real-time control interface, enabling operators to react dynamically to BPM shifts and crowd energy without relying on static timelines.
Impact
The result was a fully reactive environment that blurred the boundary between performer and audience — establishing a new benchmark for underground deployments in Singapore.
